Day 1 Arrival in Lima
Meeting, assitance, and arrival transfer from the airport to your hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at the Miraflores Park Hotel.Day 2 Lima / Cuzco
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight to Cuzco. Greet and meet services upon arrival to Cuzco and transfer to the Monasterio Hotel. Balance of morning free to relax and adjust to the high altitude at this “open-air museum”. This afternoon is at leisure to relax or take an optional tour of Cuzco, the oldest continuously inhabited city in the western hemisphere. Nowadays Cuzco is a delightful combination of Inca and colonial architecture dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Overnight at the Monasterio Hotel. (B)Day 3 Cuzco / (Urubamba Valley)
This morning we depart for a drive through the fertile countryside making our way through the "Sacred Valley" of Urubamba. First stop is the at Spanish Colonial village of Pisac to visit the nearby ruins. After lunch we visit Ollantaytambo, an ancient fortress of temples and terraces that tower over the valley. Next we visit beautiful Chinchero, a traditional Quechua community in the highlands of Peru. Return to your hotel for overnight at the Monasterio Hotel. (B,L)Day 4 Cuzco / Machu Picchu
Early morning transfer to the train station to board the Vistadome Train traveling through the Urubama Valley to Machu Picchu considered the "Lost City" of the Incas. Perched 8,200 feet above the valley, this significant archaeological find is situated along remote mountains, amid a semi-tropical jungle and therefore was hidden for 400 years until discovered in 1911 by Hiram Bingham of Yale University. From the train station, our tour bus will make the ascent to this ancient citadel to explore the temples, altars and more than 200 buildings. Afternoon at leisure to relax or explore on your own. Return to the hotel for overnight at the Sanctuary Lodge. (B,L,D)Day 5 Machu Picchu / Cuzco
Breakfast at your hotel. Enjoy one of the most incredible sights on earth, the ruins of Machu Picchu. Take as much time as you need to study the mysterious ruins, hike Huayna Picchu, stroll to the Inca Bridge or walk toward the Inca Trail to find the legendary Sun Gate. Entrance fee and local guide are included. In the afternoon return train to Cusco and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the Monasterio Hotel. (B)Day 6 Cusco / Lima / Puerto Maldonado (Reserva Amazonica)
Breakfast at your hotel. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to the Tambopata River port in Puerto Maldonado for the 45 minute boat ride to the lodge. Puerto Maldonado is situated at the confluence of the mighty Madre de Dios and Tambopata Rivers and is a bustling, booming tropical frontier town. Its principal activities are gold mining, Brazil nut collecting, timber extraction, agriculture and ecotourism. During our voyage we may see bird species typical of the river or forest edge such as: Black Skimmer, Pied Lapwing, Capped Heron, Jabiru Stork, Roadside Hawk, and several species of kingfishers, swallows and flycatchers. Welcome, accommodations, and lunch at the lodge. You will receive a short orientation and a complete briefing on the lodge before the afternoon activity. Dinner and overnight at the Reserva Amazonica. (B,L,D)Day 7 Reserva Amazonica
Morning excursion to Rolin Island with the possibility of observing various species of monkeys. Return to the reserve for breakfast and a visit to the Wetlands Flooded Ecosystems. Afternoon boat ride and a one hour trekking excursion to Lake Sandoval. Return to the reserve with a chance of observing caimans and other nocturnal birds along the ride. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. (B,L,D)Day 8 Reserva Amazonica / Puerto Maldonado / Lima
After an early breakfast you will return to Puerto Maldonado for the flight to Lima. Upon arrival at the airport a host will meet and assist you in transferring to the Miraflores Park Tower Hotel. Rest of day at leisure. (B)Day 9 Lima
Breakfast at your hotel. Day at leisure to relax or take an optional tour. Overnight at the Miraflores Park Hotel. (B)Day 10 Depart Lima
