Buenos Aires Escapes
Overview / Highlights
6 NIGHTS / 7 DAYSArgentina’s capital, popularly known as the “Paris of South America,” is one of the world’s most beautiful and cosmopolitan cities. Built in the 19th century, an era of plenty for Argentina’s wealthy gaucho land barons, Buenos Aires blends old world charm with modern convenience. Today the city of three million is a mosaic as varied and diverse as its culture. Small, highly individualized neighborhoods each proudly display distinct characteristics and colors. With a distinctive European flavor, Buenos Aires boasts numerous monuments and tourist attractions, and is also famous for shopping, theater, and its famed tango-inspired nightlife.

Day 1 Arrive Buenos Aires
Meeting upon arrival and transfer to your hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure.Day 2 Buenos Aires (City Tour)
Built in the 19th century, an era of plenty for Argentina’s wealthy gaucho land barons, Buenos Aires is a city of contrasts offering a blend of old world charm and modern conveniences that rival the architecture and sophistication of Paris. This morning we begin our city tour along 9th of July Avenue, the world’s widest boulevard, passing by Plaza de Mayo and "Casa Rosada" (Presidential Palace) before continuing to the chic Recoleta quarter and its fashionable sidewalk cafes. Next we tour the neighboring cemetery, where Eva “Evita” Peron lies amid a necropolis of elaborate mausoleums. Overnight at your hotel. (B)Day 3 Buenos Aires
Day at leisure. We recommend an optional full day excursion to the suburbs and the Delta of the Parana River. This bus and train excursion travels along the northern residential districts of the city and the suburbs where we board the “Tren de la Costa” (Riverside train) for views of luxurious homes and mansions overlooking the River Plate. Continue to the Tigre district, home to summer residences, yacht clubs and rowing clubs, a weekend getaway for “Porteños”. Overnight at your hotel. (B)Day 4 Buenos Aires
Day free to explore on your own. We suggest an optional afternoon of Tango Lessons. The exact origins of tango, both the dance and the word itself, are lost in myth and an unrecorded history. Most likely the tango was born in African-Argentine dance venues attended by compadritos, young men, mostly native born and poor, who liked to dress in slouch hats, loosely tied neckerchiefs and high-heeled boots with knives tucked casually into their belts. Overnight at your hotel. (B)Day 5 Buenos Aires
Another day to discover Buenos Aires or its surroundings. We recommend an optional Fiesta Gaucha; full day excursion along the famous Argentine rolling plains of the pampas, one of the most fertile natural prairies of the world, famous for its meat and cereal production, to visit to a typical "Estancia" (Argentine Ranch) for a “Fiesta Gaucha” (Barbecue Party) for a first hand view of the Argentine “gaucho” (cowboy) who will demonstrate their "criollo" horsemanship, along with folkloric music and dances. Welcome drink, lunch including all beverages and an afternoon mate-tea. Return to the hotel for overnight. (B)Day 6 Buenos Aires (Dinner & Tango Show)
Day free to relax or go shopping! Tonight is a special treat as we step into the Buenos Aires night making our way a magnificent Tango House. Here you’ll enjoy superb cuisine amid this exquisitely decorated ambience, recreating the sophistication of old Buenos Aires. Enjoy dinner sampling the famous Argentine beef followed by a show where we are mesmerized by sensual national dance… The Tango (B,D)Day 7 Depart Buenos Aires
